 Cellar and Casks
We are fortunate at The Bon Accord in having an extensive cellar that allows for exemplary storage and stock control. Over six hundred different brands of beer pass through the cellar every year and busy seasons and Beer Festivals may require us to keep track of over 60 casks at any given time. Casks are stored in the large holding area before being rolled through to the cellar, which is kept air conditioned at between 10-12 degrees Celsius.

Conditioned beers
The cellar is overseen by Russell Burt, possibly the most experienced cellarman in Scotland with over 27 years spent maintaining the beer at the Bon Accord.
His enthusiasm and expertise earned him the first ever CAMRA John Whitecross Memorial Award for services to real ale in 2005, and his specialist knowledge means that a varied selection of excellently conditioned beers is always available and that the Bon Accord is frequently the first to feature new brews from both established breweries and the more recently founded, such as Isle of Mull, Purple Moose and Stewart's.
His expert eye guides every beer through all the stages of secondary fermentation, from rolling and racking to spiling and tapping.
Optimum freshness and quality
The bar at the Bon Accord is long and handsome, boasting 10 traditional swan necked hand pumps for real ale as well as proprietary fonts for keg beers. It is located directly above the stillage room with only a short distance for beer to travel helping to ensure optimum freshness and quality.
Real Ale badges are attached to each pump displaying the beer on tap and this information is also clearly displayed on a large blackboard behind the bar. In addition an extensive range of bottled beers including Belgian wheat and fruit beers are available, and traditional ciders and perrys are also frequently on offer.
High standards
All this hard work contributes to the outstanding quality of beer at The Bon Accord. In the final stage of dispense staff are at pains to ensure that the pint is of the highest standard and is served correctly. Customer requests are always attended to whether it be a pint served without a sparkler or with an extra large thick head, and if by chance a below par pint is served it is replaced without question
.
Finally
With so much to say about the beer at the Bon Accord its easy to overlook all the other elements that make it a great pub, from the quality food and huge range of malt whiskys to the live bands, quiz night and sport and the many clubs and societies that make it their base too, and, how could we forget, the great customers.
The name 'Bon Accord' meaning 'harmony' or 'good fellowship' has long been associated with drinking and merriment and was in fact an old drinking toast used for celebrations. Today the Bon Accord offers the best in quality food and beer in traditional surroundings that are well worth toasting.
